Is Love but a losing game

Press play and let the music wash over you as you read.
Salute.

I never sought to get so deeply embedded within your mind

I never wanted to curse you
To think of me

All the time

I am just a man
Of flesh and blood

Wading knee-deep in humanities
Deluge and mud

I did’t want to break your heart

Maybe it is a good thing
We are so far apart

So it may be like the call of the beast
Wild and ravenous for

A thirst for answers

Blowing in the four winds
But especially from the East

Are we just star-struck lovers
Lost upon a sometimes lonely beach

But sometimes the only way we can light our way
Forward

Is to talk to our soul flame
Who we might still hurt

Even if they are safely just out of reach
Just walking all alone
On a lonely beach

Maybe Love is a losing game

But I swear

I'll always remember your name
