The Song of The Quiet Man

A lone voice sings.)

Press play before reading. Salute.

For all the what if's

And what for's

And all those crazy games

We once so lovingly played

Including

Those forgotten ones

Maybe clumsily waylaid

Like children's toys

And now carefully

Put away

I always wonder

In this half-light

Were they always

Worth the price

Especially

Those now

Calling

At midnight

With their bowed heads

Those standing shining

Proudly on loves

Barren parade

Waiting for my attention

To be fully vetted and paid

As jealous slow-moving shadows

In the background

Of a new life

Smile

Laugh

And wave

Dancing a Mephistophelian jig

While

Listening to songs and sounds

Sung and made

By the Devil's Own

Seductive

Black Brigade

So as I now stand as stone

At midnight

Reliving the masquerade

And all the games

We once played

 Listening to the sad songs

Of the Black Brigade

I'm slowly

Cut deep

By memories

Silvery blade

But no longer afraid

As the band sings

Sad hypnotic songs

Played

By Devil's own

Black Brigade
