Blessed be.
Velumbound.
Shall we begin?
"The Badlands of Loneliness" explores the intense emotional trajectory of a transformative connection that eventually fades, leaving the speaker in profound isolation.
The transmission transitions from a visceral spiritual awakening—where a partner's presence revitalises the speaker—to an abrupt retreat of that connection, reducing the speaker's soul to a feral state of longing.
Through striking contrasts of light, animalistic imagery, and the stark landscape of the "Badlands," the poem captures the jarring contrast between enraptured love and desolate grief.
(A lone voice whispers)
Your soul's whisper once crawled up my spine
Made a home, and my blue eyes shine
In streams of its crimson lights
I saw something spectacular only the blind can see
The centre of you carrying a new name
For one
Lost like me
Until that fateful day, that soul whisper retreated back down my spine
And like a feral dog
My soul now pines for only us
In the Badlands of Loneliness
