The letter left behind

 The letter left behind

The scene.

A badly damaged house.

The front door.

Wide open.

Broken.

Furniture in disarray.

A dark stain on the door threshold and a letter.

Wrapped in a red bow on a side table.

The investigating detective picks it up and reads.

-------

Well it's been

A few years

And

The Great Dragon is at the door

Banging hard

Like only Count Dracul could

So before

He breaks it down

And I welcome

Him in

To pay

For my sins

Touch

Wood

Here are

My last words

Before

I'm turned

Life is hard

Then we all die

So

If someone once

Shared their light

Don't hate them

And cry

You may never know

What they were going

Through

So in those special moments

Of reflection

Put your judgment aside

And embrace those memories

When they first came

Your way

Even though

Your not friends

Today

Because one day

One day

They'll disappear

Somewhere

Unknown

Where the Starlings don't

Play

And you'll never

Get to say

What you really

Want to say
