The Love Boat

Love once came too late

Sailing in

Merrily

On a cherry red Schooner

With standard bearers

Of bright blue and gold

To warm up

My weary heart

Which had grown

Cold

But as the years

Passed

It sailed back

Into The Dark Lands of

The Untold

With my old lover

My Captain

Steering the wheel

On how I miss

Her warm touch and feel

Now just mere memories

I return too

To steal

Oh

How I wish

She'd turned that emotional wheel

And returned to me

But that cherry red Schooner

Soon sailed

Away

Without even a wave

So on these sombre shores

Of Disenchantment

I sometimes look

Back

In silent detachment

At what could have been

If I had stood

Beside her

At that wheel

But my old love sailed

Away

Merrily

In a cherry red Schooner

With standard bearers

Of bright blue and gold

Bringing cold

To my tired heart

Which had grown

Weary and old

So as these sad years

Pass

If I'm asked

Have you known love

I just reply

Once

So long ago

But now it's sailed back

Into The Dark Lands

Of The Untold
