The Monologue of Saul

(A lone voice whispers)

I'm but a living breathing ghost of my unwanted past

The torturous vicious upbringing I endured will now always last

But once so long ago in one brave moment

When I found the inner strength

To stand strong and relive my historical moments with the so familiar cast

Those angry blue eyes
The harsh vindictive words and the endless beatings

All things which still stain me and will always remain

I once met a beautiful queen from good old Tennessee

Whilst drifting in the red seas in the great in-between

We lived embroiled in such deep love like Romeo and Juliet

Shared succulent poetic stories and open exchanges but my tragic past which haunted me and seems to always last

Caught her dice as they were willingly cast

And now I just live in treasured memories of our beloved past

Before my ghosts with familiar faces from a tragic cast

Destroyed our love and smashed our dreams

As they marked our cards to live as two lonely outcasts

A rather sad film, I recently watched inspired this.

Deep depression from childhood traumatic events can be blamed for so many lives going to waste. Salute.
