The Song of the Preacher Man

Press play before reading. Salute.

The Song of the Preacher Man

(A lone voice sings in the low hours. Guitar solo.

 Such a soulful voice.

Can you hear him like me?)

It's a mystery

When things go wrong

And people think

They know all your history

When the incense of anger lingers

And seduction sings so strong

Awakening new sinners

And into the deep breach

Old friendships fall

No longer to be reached

Of once happy friends

Now divided until the end

But beautiful temptation

Always comes in smiling

For she lives in all nations

And new love sends all her white feathers

To lift your soul in all weathers

Just two souls introduced

Sharing new love letters

Filled with such treasures

Which lead to so much pleasure

In a cruel cruel world

Filled such pressures

Just two new hearts

Now beating as one

As their race runs

Until

The very end

No one loved now

To fall into the breach

And stay out of reach

But someone new to listen to

As they teach

It's just life

Complex as it seems

Four score and ten

Filled with people God sends

It's just life

Complex as it seems

Four score and ten

Filled with people God sends

Always looking for love

To carry you to the end

It's just life

Complex as it seems

Four score and ten

Filled with people God sends

Always looking for love

To carry you to the very end
