Elizabeth's last letter to Richard in The Great In-Between

Press play and let the emotional music wash over you, as you slowly read. Salute.

(A lone voice whispers)

I hope your life is now just a false reality

Especially now

As you choose this our first anniversary

To abandon me

It's only been a week in here and you've once again

Left me

Like a lost lonely castaway

I just can't keep saying to the swirling shadows

I'll be okay

No matter what others watching may say

As I walk alone on this old road some call

Loves Broken Highways

Where lonely souls wander in here to play

When all their wishes

Have upped and flown away

Does your life now scream as it sings

Like the 3 Degrees

As you put up new photographs for others

In The Great In-Between to see

For them to then ask why you abandoned me

I keep saying to myself

I'll be okay

If only I can conquer being alone

On my 84th birthday

I saw all the familiar signs but still inside

My heart still pined

I just hope even though your life may seem like a false reality

You eventually find happiness and some form of tranquillity

Even though you chose this winter

To abandon me

Maybe one day you'll finally see

There's no one else you'll ever meet like me

Even in this cast of stars

Who roam in the grey shadows

Of this Great In-Between

Maybe that's why this year

I'll need to just walk away and finally leave you crying behind me

Shedding so many sad tears

In the distance

As I look for a new lover in here and a unique happier existence

And if your life turns out to be a complete joke and a sad reality

Remember

It was you who chose this winter

To abandon me

With nowhere to stay

And I just can't keep saying

I'll be okay

No matter what others say

As I walk alone down loves broken highways

I'll just have to find a new altar which to pray upon

You'll see

I don't want to end up like Cleopatra

I just hope I find a new lover to carry me through every day

Even this winter

One that doesn't cheat but cherishes me and stays
